Limited Edition 24k Gold Nikon FA Available On eBay For $12,000

Most people use digital these days, but many photographers prefer to go old school and use film cameras. If you’re a fan of old school cameras, you might want to check out a listing on eBay for a Nikon FA camera. This special model is a limited edition version that comes with a 24k gold plated finish and lizard skin. That’s a crazy combination.

The seller is asking for $12,000 for the camera. The eBay listing says that it is used, while the description says that this is a camera that has never been used before. Either way, this is a pretty sweet camera for the photography enthusiast with some disposable income.
Nikon’s description of the camera is: “In commemoration of winning the “Camera Grand Prix” prize, Nikon FA Gold was released in Japan (Nippon). This was based on the FA, and its silver color parts such as top and bottom covers are gold-plated and the lizard skin was used for leather cover.” Only 2,000 units were made so this is a real score for Nikon fans who want something special to brag about and sit on their mantle like a trophy.

Minimalist Slope Tablet Stand By Dekke Hands On Review

Some of our readers might remember the Kickstarter funded Slope tablet stand created by Erik Kittlaus and Dekke which uses aluminium and nano foam technology to keep your tablet in place. Well this week I got my hands on one and thought I would share with you my experience of the Slope tablet stand.

Firstly I have to admit I have come across other devices that use nano foam technology and was a little sceptical that the stand would live up to expectations. However after just two minutes of use, the Slope tablet stand blew these previous worries away and instantly proved to me that the Slope tablet stand and its nano foam pads were definitely up to the job of holding any tablet in place securely.

The large nano foam pads enable you to easily position your tablet for viewing and even though the angle of the Slope stand is fixed, by flipping it over in to other orientations this allows you to have a couple of other viewing angles to choose from.

The Slope tablet stand is fitted with large nano foam pads on its base and viewing slope and the size of the pads make sure that once your tablet is fixed it doesn’t move at all. The first time I pushed on my Apple iPad mini I thought I would not be able to get it off they are so strong. But after a few goes you get to understand the suction of the nano foam and it doesn’t require much pressure to hold the tablet in place and make it easy to remove.

The awesome nano foam technology used on the Slope tablet stand is easy to clean with water if it gets a little dusty and will recover its stickiness after a quick wash with cold water. However be aware that the nano foam technology will degrade if exposed to high temperatures, such as leaving it in your car on a sunny day or similar so, make sure you keep it out of sunlight.

As you can see from the photos I have taken below the stand is constructed from aluminium and is minimal in design making it a fantastic addition to a setup and requires very little desktop space.
The Slope tablet stand is available in either a 10 inch version for $59.99 or a Slope mini version designed for 7 inch tablets for $54.99 and is currently available to purchase from the Dekke website. Also in the run up to the holiday period Dekke is also offering a 20 percent discount for a limited time. So don’t delay if you need a minimal well designed stand for your tablet, as I highly recommend the Slope tablet stand.

Nuvola TV-U1 Adds live TV to NP-1 4K Media Streamer

Back in July, we talked about a new 4k media streaming from a company called Nuvola. The media streamer is the Nuvola NP-1 and it supports 4k video streaming and more. The device runs an NVIDIA Tegra chipset and has 2GB of RAM. The streamer also features 16GB of internal storage. Nuvola has announced a new accessory for the streaming device.

The accessory is called the TV-U1 TV tuner. The device is about the size of a flash dive and comes with an external antenna. The TV tuner allows the set top box to receive free digital OTA TV broadcasts. Those TV broadcasts are automatically scaled up to 4K resolution. The TV tuner also supports unencrypted digital cable channels via a Clear QAM tuner. The device can also receive FM radio broadcasts.
The TV-U1 connects to the NP-1′s USB port. The TV tuner is priced at $99 and is available now. “Priced at just $99, the TV-U1 TV Tuner when added to the Nuvola NP-1 will provide consumers with a cost-effective alternative to paying for cable or satellite TV by delivering a variety of network channels,” said NanoTech CEO Jeff Foley. “For added value, the software bundled with the new tuner also delivers the convenience of a fully-functional DVR that makes it easy to watch, timeshift and record the broadcast television channels.” An integrated Electronic Programming Guide (EPG) is included that provides automatic station searching as well as the ability to create favorite stations and schedule recordings for later viewing.
