Wonderful Modern Villa in Mongolia, China

People have built different types of houses of various kinds and with more or less comfort and elegance. It depends on our tastes, preferences and needs, when we choose our own house design and the material resources that we afford.

Here it is a wonderful, modern villa in Mongolia, China. It is a building with an interesting shape, designed by Multiplicities based on a wonderful adaptive system to the climatic conditions. If it were not for the windows it would look more like an egg. It has an oval shape, except the space destined to the windows. It is made of black brick and white quartz plaster, an elegant choice of colors which complete each other in a harmonious way. The materials used can change the density of the construction and allow to different types of screen to filter the sun, water, light and air inside the building.

So, you can notice that it is a building which can adapt itself to any natural phenomenon that might influence its existence whether it is related to heat, water or air. It is a unique construction which can offer you all the conditions you need for a modern and healthy living. You can enjoy this place any season you woud like to without feeling any discomfort.

Unusual building façade in Mexico City

Every now and then an unconventional designer or architects decides to create something spectacular, something we’ve never seen before and that isn’t necessarily practical or beautiful but that is just unusual and intriguing. It’s the case of Hesiodo, a very strange building designed by Hierve-Diseñería in Mexico City.

The interior of this building is not that unusual, but it’s the façade that is so intriguing. It’s definitely an innovation in this domain. The façade of this building it’s been made up of 7,723 blown glass spheres. It’s not something you would expect to see when looking at a building. The decision has been a very radical one, as this detail may either be loved or hated. It’s not the most practical r functional choice. The spheres often interfere when you’re trying to look u the window, maybe to see someone or just to admire the view. In this case they obstruct your view and makes easy things more difficult. Also, the glass spheres seem very difficult to clean up. You might have to wait for the rain to do this job.

Even though there are clearly several disadvantages related to this particular design, the façade remains a very eye-catching structure and a an art piece to some extent. It’s unusual and intriguing and some people are often looking for that when choosing a home.

Soumaya Art Museum in Mexico City

I bet that your reaction after seeing this photo will be: “What on Earth is this?”. I thought the same, too. You might think it’s a UFO or some other kind of extraterrestrial spaceship. Actually this is an art museum situated in Mexico City and its name is Soumaya. It was funded by some rich guy from Mexico called Carlos Slim, who names the building after his late wife. The architect was Slim’s son-in-law Fernando Romero. This unusual building was made with the purpose of housing the art exhibitions and painting from all over the world and Slim hired the best team to do that – the same one who built the Opera House in Sydney and the Bird’s Nest Stadium in China

The bold building is a curvy shape covered with 16,000 hexagons of aluminum that spark in the sunshine since 2010, the year of the inauguration. The irregular shape of the building has a cube as the base and it has elongated ends. The architect and the building team used the latest technology in order to be able to finish the project in the smallest details. The shape of the museum is said to have been inspired by Rodin’s sculptures and the aluminum on the surface suggests the traditional Mexican culture, both as shape and material. Amazing piece of architecture in short.

Traditional Norwegian boat house converted into summer house

When you say or hear the word “boathouse” you probably think either at a boat converted into a home or at a house shaped like a boat. Well, neither of these variants are correct in this case. This house is located in More og Romsdal, Norway. It was designed and built by TYIN tegnestue and the construction was completed in 2011. The name refers to traditional Norwegian boathouses that have been used to store boats and fishing gear. However, today it’s not the case anymore.

Most of these boathouses are now used as summer houses. They have been converted into cozy homes and got a new use. The one you see here is a new construction. The original boathouse that use to be on this site was in very bad shape when the owners found it and it had to be torn down. However, they’ve decided to preserve the idea and to build a new, similar structure.

Most of the materials from the old house were used to build the new one. Some windows from the clients other farmhouse were also reused in this project. The final result is what you see here. An old boathouse that inspired a new construction. The house is currently used by the owner as a getaway and a summer house.{pics by Pasi Aalto and found on archdaily}

Saturno Unique Round Glass Office Table by Staino&Staino

An office table or desk must be practical as well as at the same time blending in with the office environment. An office furniture table must be subtle so as not to stand out in the confines of an office .Well,  Saturno is a unique round office glass table designed by Staino&Staino which could transform any modern home office into a favorite area to work. The spherical central wooden is available in different color versions, but the most gorgeous are black and white models.

The obvious inspiration point was the Saturn planet. The universe is the one thing that will always fascinate us. It’s so huge and full of mysteries that we’ll probably never discover or solve, it’s impossible to get bored exploring it. So it also makes a great source of inspiration when it comes to everyday items like furniture for example. And this table is the perfect example.

I really like the round base and they way the glass top is strategically placed in order to look like one of Saturn’s rings. It’s ingenious and clever and the result is very beautiful and stylish. It’s a nice way of bringing some fun and interesting touches to your office furniture. Just because that’s the place where you work this doesn’t mean it has to be boring and ugly.

Dalian Shell Museum

I like unique things because they are one of a kind and especially because some people had the nerve to imagine something different and to stand for their idea until they have accomplished it. Dalian Shell Museum is the perfect example for my words, as it is a singular building, designed by some very creative architects and designers. Even the name is both a hint and a part of reality, as this museum really houses over 5,000 kinds of precious shells from all over the world, but it also has the shape of a shell.

Actually the building is covered by multiple shells that overlap each other looking spectacularly together and being just a symbol of what lies underneath the roof. This unique museum is located in Dalian province, China and covers more than 18,000 square meters of land.

The outside of the building is mainly made of glass and stainless steel, so it reflects the surrounding environment perfectly, looking green or blue in turns. It looks transparent from the inside and lets the natural light of the sun go inside, but at the same time reflects it and “borrows” the color of the sky or of the nature around it. If you ask my opinion I will say only one word: “spectacular”. Oh, and it reminds me somehow of the Opera House in Sydney, Australia. I guess it’s due to the shape

Meitan Tea Museum in China

I have recently found a very unusual building while surfing on the Internet. Apparently there are enough creative architects in this world who are daring enough to new and innovative designs for the buildings they create. For example some buildings no longer look like buildings, but they resemble different other things that you can find in the kitchen for example. That is the particular case of the Meitan Tea Museum in China

China is known as the country that has been growing tea as a traditional occupation and the green tea produced here is famous all over the world. So we can say this region in China can be called the country of green tea and Seitan the hometown of green tea. No wonder they thought of opening a big museum dedicated to tea. And in order to make things perfect, the Chinese thought it would be a great idea to make it look like a giant teapot.

Right in front of it you can also see a giant teacup that completes the whole picture. If you see the building from the distance you do not even realize it’s an actual building but think you have an optical illusion or maybe someone has thought of a trick to make things look larger. But that happens because you can’t see the windows from the distance, that become visible only when you come closer.

The building is 73.8 meters high and reaches a maximum diameter of 24 meters.

The Dubai Museum of Middle Eastern Modern Art

MOMEMA is a project initiated by His highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who would like that the museum becomes a place which celebrates the region’s artists and art and also Khor Dubai’s importance as a cultural hub.

UN Studio is the firm which was selected to design this building. It is a strange building because it does not look like a museum. Its odd shape resembles more to a space ship which seems to impress every human being who is in front of it. It is a huge building with a modern design.

Here you can find an auditorium, an amphitheatre, a boutique hotel, workshop spaces, spaces for art exhibitions or visit art galleries. It is a pleasant place which combines the refinement of cultural and artistic activities with the regional, traditional influences. It is a place which can enrich your mind and soul too.
