Zotac ZBOX Mini PC Receives Haswell Intel 4th Gen Upgrade

Zotac has today announced that it is upgrading its line of ZBOX Mini PCs to support the new 4th generation Intel Haswell processors providing enhanced graphics and performance with lower power consumption.
The new Zotec Haswell systems will be available as either barebones systems together with the Zotac Plus versions that come with memory and hard drive storage, just add your operating system of choice.


The range of Zotac ZBOX Haswell Mini PCs can support up to 16GB of DDR3-1600 memory in 2 SODIMM slots and come equipped with the option to add Core i3, Core i5 or Core i7 processors.
Zotac ZBOX ID91 :The entry-level model will be available with an Intel Core i3-4130T processor, Intel HD 4400 graphics, HDMI and DVI ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports, and 2 USB 3.0 ports. The dual-core processor supports hyperthreading and features a TDP of 35W.
Zotac ZBOX ID92 : Next up we have a model with a Core i5-4570T dual-core chip, which also has a TDP of 35W. This model has Intel HD 4600 graphics, dual DisplayPort and DVI-I, 4 USB 3.0 ports, and an mSATA 6.0 Gb/s connector.
Zotac ZBOX IQ01 :The top-of-the-line model sports a Core i7-4770T quad-core chip with Intel HD 4600 graphics and a 45W TDP.

Evena Eyes-On Smart Glasses Allow Doctors To Look Under The Skin

Evena Medical has this week unveiled a new device in the form of the Evena Eyes-On smart glasses which have been designed to enable nurses and doctors to see through a patients skin.
The Evena Eyes-On smart glasses allow users to be able to see clearly veins underneath a patients skin and enable them to choose the “best” vein for whatever reason they need. Whether to give an injection or connect a drip , watch the video after the jump to learn more.

 The technology to look underneath a patient’s skin has been available for some time but until now has been only in the form of a bulky machine which could not be manoeuvred very easily from patient to patient. The Evena Eyes-On device is equipped with a belt mounted computer and battery pack allow the device to be portable.


The new glasses now provides doctors and nurses with a portable solution that makes the whole process much more user-friendly for both the patient and the doctor or nurse. Frank Ball, Evena Medical President and CEO explained :
“Studies have shown that up to 40 percent of IV starts require multiple attempts to locate and access a vein, which not only wastes valuable nursing time but also delays therapy and causes patient discomfort and dissatisfaction,”-“With Evena’s Eyes-On Glasses, nurses can quickly and easily locate and access the best veins for each patient – even in challenging clinical environments such as pediatric or neonatal units.”

Robox 3D Printer And Desktop Micro-Manufacturing Platform Launches On Kickstarter

Yamaha Tricity Three Wheel Motorcycle Concept

The other day we saw a three wheeled EV concept from Kawasaki, the Kawasaki J, and now Yamaha has shown of a new three wheeled motorcycle concept at the Tokyo Motor Show, the Yamaha Tricity.
Yamaha Tricity looks a little more reserved than the Kawasaki J we saw the other day, it was announced early this month at EICMA in Milan.


 The Yamaha Tricity is a three wheel tilting scooter which originally started out as a concept, and will go into production next year, although there are not many details on the specifications of the production model as yet.


 “It is a high-quality design developed for the European customer’s sense of style,” designer Noguchi Hirotoshi told the company’s Design Cafe portal. “We wanted to create a smart and refined design that is different from others. And above all, to express how easy to ride this vehicle is.”

Second Generation Bridgestone Airless-Tires Unveiled At Tokyo Motor Show

Bridgestone has this week unveiled their new second generation Bridgestone Airless-Tires, revealing that the designs are edging closer to being a viable consumer product, available for use on our cars and roads in the future.
As some of out reader might remember last week Polaris unveiled their new Sportsman WV850 ATV that came equipped with Airless-Tires and was the very of its kind to be made available to the public, after being developed for the military and based on the companies U.S. army’s MV850 ATV.





 Bridgestone revealed its second generation Air Free Concept (Non-Pneumatic) Tire at the 43 Tokyo Motor Show 2013 this week and has been created to provide both an environmental design and driving performance.


 The new Bridgestone Airless-Tires pictured above have been designed with special shape spokes that stretched around the tire sides to support the load and require no air whats-so-ever to function.

The Bridgestone Airless-Tires spokes are constructed from a thermoplastic resin combined with a rubber tread. All materials used in the Bridgestone Airless-Tires are recyclable and offer extremely low rolling resistance.

“The second generation of Air Free Concept tire has increased versatility through improved load-bearing capabilities and driving compared with the first generation. High-speed travel (maximum 60 km/h) in ultralight vehicles has also become possible.”
