Batman Tumbler Golf Cart Sells For $17,500 On eBay

Some of our reader will remember the Batman Tumbler golf car
t that we featured on the site back in 2010, it was spotted at Warner Bros Studio back in 2010, and now it looks like it was sold on on eBay for $17,500.
The creators of this fun Batman Tumbler golf cart started out with an EZ-Go golf cart, and then stripped it down to the frame and four cup holders.

They spent a total of $30,000 creating this Batman themed golf cart, with upgraded batteries that give it a top speed of 38 MPH, 28 inch tires, and even an iPad holder.

We started off with an EZ-Go Golf-Cart, then stripped it down to the frame and 4 cup holders.
You will find no cheap or plastic parts here…
The entire vehicle is hand crafted from the frame and sheet metal, including a sculpted, molded cowl, attention was paid to every detail.
Well over $30,000 to make it runs great and cosmetic condition is excellent, along with low hours.
It has been used 1/4 the time on a studio lots, but the rest of the time kept indoors on display.
The auction listing says that the Batman Tumbler golf card was used at movie studios and also used for display, so it looks like this is the same one that appeared at the Warner Bros studio back in 2010.

Next Generation USB Plugs Will Finally Be Reversible

One of the biggest problems with the current USB connections it that they have to be pushed-in the right way around. Which sometimes isn’t the easiest to do if you are fumbling around at the back of your computer.
However their might be light at the end of the tunnel to bring and end to this fumbling, as this week the USB 3.0 Promoter Group announced that they are currently developing a next generation USB port that will be completely reversible

The new USB Type-C connector, is currently under development and will build on the existing USB 3.1 and USB 2.0 technologies, but provide users with a thinner and sleeker connection. The new supplement to the USB 3.1 specification is expected to be completed by the middle of next year say the USB 3.0 Promoter Group. Key characteristics of the USB Type-C connector and cable solution include:
- An entirely new design tailored to work well with emerging product designs
- New smaller size – similar in size to the existing USB 2.0 Micro-B
- Usability enhancements – users will no longer need to be concerned with plug orientation/cable direction, making it easier to plug in
- The Type-C connector and cable will support scalable power charging
- Scalability – the connector design will scale for future USB bus performance
Brad Saunders, USB 3.0 Promoter Group Chairman explains : “While USB technology is well established as the favored choice for connecting and powering devices, we recognize the need to develop a new connector to meet evolving design trends in terms of size and usability,” -“The new Type-C connector will fit well with the market’s direction and affords an opportunity to lay a foundation for future versions of USB.”
Alex Peleg, Vice President, Platform Engineering Group explains : “Intel is excited to see the development of the new thin Type-C connector as it will enable an entirely new super thin class of devices from phones to tablets, to 2-in-1s, to laptops to desktops and a multitude of other more specific usage devices,”-“This new industry standards-based thin connector delivering data, power and video is the only connector one will need across all devices.”

The Ormerod 3D Printer Kit is equipped with the new 32-bit Arduino-compatible Duet electronics enable control via a web-browser as well as fully open-source self-replicating RepRap and a wiring loom for simple plug-in connection with no soldering required.
“The Ormerod uses a process known a fused filament fabrication, which it employs to build 3-dimensional objects in a range of plastics and in a variety of colours. This process enables the user to create almost any shape which can be modelled on a computer, including some which could not be produced by traditional manufacturing techniques at all.
The RepRapPro Ormerod is a monochrome 3D printer configured to work with one type of plastic at a time. However, the RepRapPro Ormerod head is fundamentally designed to work with three deposition heads and an upgrade kit will be available soon for this machine.”
The new Ormerod 3D printing kit from RepRapPro has a range of printer filaments in 8 different colours available to use with it on 100m reels for £30. For more information on the new Ormerod 3D Printer Kit jump over to the RS Components website for details.

Smart watches are expected to the next big thing in 2014, Apple and Google are rumored to have new devices in the works, and now Frank Nuovo, who previously worked at Nokia designing their luxury Vertu smartphones is working on a smartwatch.
Frank Nouvo didn’t just design luxury devices at his time at Nokia, he also designed regular mobile phones, and was responsible for designed some of the company’s most popular handsets, when Nokia mobile phones were popular in the late 90s and early 2000s.

He now plans to design a luxury smartwatch and has teamed up with Metawatch, who already has a smartwatch on the market, and were previously owned by Fossil.
According to Metawatch CEO, Bill Geiser, the new luxury smartwatch from Metawatch will come with an updated operating system over the current model, plus a new display and design.

It will be interesting to see what this luxury smartwatch is like, considering that Frank Nouvo created a number of expensive Vertu smartphones with precious metals and diamonds, we suspect that this new luxury smartwatch could be one of the most expensive on the market when it launches.
