After A Year In The Pacific Ocean, A Canon EOS Camera & Photographs Are Reunited With Its Owners

After spending more than a year being washed around the Pacific Ocean, a Canon EOS 1000D camera and the photographs contained on its SD card have been reunited with its owner.
As you would expect the Canon EOS camera, pictured below, is no longer working. But the SanDisk Extreme III SD card inside of it was able to be washed, and more than 50 images were recovered. With a date stamp suggesting the camera had been in the salty depths for over a year.

The camera was found during a scuba trip by Markus Thompson, who was diving in Deep Bay just outside Vancouver. After publishing some of the images on Google+, Markus was able to track down the Canon EOS 1000D camera’s original owner. A firefighter and his family from British Columbia and reunite them with their photographs and Canon EOS 1000D paperweight.

Samsung expects $7.28 billion in operating profits for Q3

Samsung has some good news for investors, ahead of its full Q3 earnings report that’s due before October 26th, These numbers are pretty massive.

The company is expecting a fourth straight record quarter with overall operating profits of 8.1 trillion won ($7.28 billion), an amount that more than doubles last year’s results for the same period and up from Q2s $5.86 billion, on sales of 52 trillion won ($46 billion).
We don’t have the numbers broken down by department, but obviously there’s a lot of Galaxy S IIIs involved in the equation. The company has a lot to celebrate. Even if they lose the legal battle with Apple, things are going well for them and they have nothing to be ashamed of.

Samsung Galaxy Camera heads for AT&T

AT&T has announced that they will be making the Samsung Galaxy Camera available. We’ve already seen it arrive at the FCC. The Galaxy Camera is powered by Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and stays connected to the Internet via AT&T’s 4G mobile internet.

Android users can use it right out of the box since the user interface is familiar and you can access your favorite Android applications from the Google Play market. The Galaxy Camera has a 4.8-inch HD Super Clear LCD display with a 21x optical zoom lens and a super-bright 16-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, and a quad-core 1GHz processor. The Galaxy Camera will arrive in the “coming weeks”, and pricing will be revealed soon

Social Bicycles partners with AT&T to keep bicycle renting safe

If you live in a city swarming with traffic, a bike is a good idea. The problem is that it is very easy for someone to steal your bike, despite all those secure locks. Social Bicycles’ bicycles have built-in GPS which will be using AT&T’s wireless network. This will make sure that the bike doesn’t get stolen and that its location is known at all times.

ou can rent bicycles using a smartphone app. Once you reach your destination and want to return it to the company, just locate a Social Bicycles rack with the help of the app and return the bike there. Pretty convenient.
The app will also calculate how many calories you have burned on the distance you covered and the number of dollars you saved by choosing the bicycle to get around.

Leviton has introduced a new in-wall USB charger. The Leviton T5630 is compatible with a wide variety of wall plates, and can be used in multiple-gang installations so it makes an attractive option.

The USB port on the left will output up to 0.7A, while the USB port on the right is capable of up to 2.1A. The right port has an auto-sensing chip, which will adjust the amps depending on the device that’s connected.

Alcatel launches 7-inch OneTouch T10 tablet with ICS

Competition is fierce in the Android tablet arena, but it gets less crowded when it comes to mini tablets which is predominantly occupied by Amazon’s Kindle Fire lineup and Google’s recent Nexus 7. Alcatel is launching the OneTouch T10 tablet which is a 7-inch slate with a 800 x 480 display. They hope to make their own way into this niche.
