Sony Action Cam
Sony is taking a leap into the world of wearable camcorders with the new Action Cam HDR-AS15.
At the camcorder’s unveiling in New York, Sony didn’t shy away from the
fact that the new Action Cam is a direct competitor to the GoPro Hero2
and Contour’s series of wearable camcorders. Sony is attempting to add
its own twist to the genre by incorporating the Action Cam with an f/2.8
Carl Zeiss lens, a 16-megapixel image sensor, and a couple of slow
motion modes—in addition to Full HD 1080p recording.
The Action Cam will hit stores in late September or early October and will retail for $269 (with built-in WiFi). A version without WiFi, the HDR-AS10, is expected to sell for $199. Both models ship with a waterproof case capable of taking the camcorder 197 feet underwater (60m). Various extra mounts and accessories will also be available for the camcorder at an additional cost.
