Sony Releases Wearable Action Cam—Direct Competitor to GoPro Hero2
After teasing a wearable camcorder a few weeks ago, Sony made the announcement official with the release of its Action Cam HDR-AS15 and HDR-AS10.
The camcorder is molded after the popular GoPro, Contour, and Drift HD
wearable camcorders, and it has many of the same features as its
competitors. Sony’s Action Cam includes Full HD recording capability,
digital SteadyShot image stabilization, an f/2.8 Carl Zeiss lens, and a
720p slow motion mode that shoots at 120fps.
The Action Cam will be available for $269 with built-in WiFi (HDR-AS15) or for $199 without WiFi (HDR-AS10). Both models ship with a waterproof case that allows the camcorder to travel safely up to 197 feet (60m) underwater. Additional mounts and accessories have also been announced, including head mounts, a suction cup mount, adhesive mounts, and a Handycam Adapter that adds a 2.7-inch LCD to the side of the Action Cam.
