Intel has unveiled a couple new computing devices that are aimed at the educational environment. The products include the Intel Education Tablet and the Intel classmate PC. The tablet is the more interesting of the devices sporting some cool accessories that will help kids learn science and more.

The tablet has a snap-on magnification lens and a plug-in thermal probe. That stuff will come in handy for learning about the world around them. The tablet runs the Android operating system and has rubber bumper on the sides. It can survive drops of up to 70cm and is water resistant. The tablet has an Intel Atom Z2520 processor and an optional 3G modem.

The tablet has integrated front and rear cameras and promises 12 hours of battery life per charge. The classmate PC also has a 10-inch screen with touch optional. The classmate PC uses Windows 8.1 and a N2806 Celeron processor. Versions of the tablet running Windows 7 or Linux and a Celeron N2805 processor will come later in the year. The classmate PC is the first product in the world to be based on the classmate PC reference design. Classmate PCs will be available this month with the tablet availability unknown.
