Here we come with a unique table called the fourth dimension table by Axel Yberg
for his brother in law. This unique table actually has such complicated
design which is difficult to be identified at the first time of what
table inspiration is. This unique table seems to be designed as a coffee
table. Its dimension is 26.5’’ length, 26.5’’ width, and 19’’ height.
This unique table is inspired by Einstein’s theory about the fourth
dimension. This theory said that time is only an illusion which
separated into past, present and future. Purposely, this table is
designed to remember about the birth and death time.
Basically,
this table contains of several pieces of material which are arranged
and joined to be a table with unique design. This unique coffee table
contains of four black walnut legs, brushed black steel, steel mesh
embedded glass, galvanize plumbing fittings and pipes, and aircraft
cable. There are four legs made of walnut which arranged uniquely with
the wooden legs across others to form a smaller square frame on the
center. This smaller square only can be seen from the above. Those oiled
black walnut legs are connected by aircraft cable to keep them stay on
their position. This table leg and cable arrangement actually has a
meaning to fit the time theory above.
There
are four table legs that reflect the fourth family member. The cable is
used to join the legs reflect that every family member is connected to
another since the main function of the cable is to support the legs to
avoid the collapse. Because this
unique table is inspired by Einstein’s theory,
there are some shapes which are formed by the connection between the
wooden legs and the cable such as: triangle, hexagonal, and square. The
wooden legs arrangement is designed larger than the main table counter
above them. Several galvanize plumbing pipes and fittings are arranged
to hold the square glass counter.
There
is mess style applied under the glass counter made of steel. This steel
looks harmony with the domination color on this unique table which is
grey steel. The transparent steel mess glass is framed by steel pieces
surround the square glass. From this transparent glass, you can see the
small square created by the wooden legs through the glass. It looks so
complicated and unique with those unusual design ideas.
